Visit Castle Catajo to take a trip back through centuries of stories and legends.
One of the most fascinating of these stories involves Marchioness Lucrezia Obizzi, who was assassinated in her bed by a family friend who was in love with her. It is said that her ghost still walks the halls of the castle.
But Catajo also boasts happier stories, such as the memorable parties held on the summer terraces and in the huge halls of the castle. In the 1600s, the “Courtyard of Giants” was even filled with water to hold recreations of naval battles to entertain the guests.
More recently, the major restoration works undertaken in 2018 revealed the largest outdoor frescoes to be found in the last thirty years in the Veneto region which stand alongside another incredible work of art at Castle Catajo: the neo-Gothic chapel built in 1838 for the visit of the Emperors of Austria.
In short, there is no lack of fascinating history at Castle Catajo.
