A charming 18th century residence, Villa Alpago-Novello is in Frontin di Trichiana, a tiny village one hour from both Venice and Cortina d’Ampezzo, nestling among “mysterious mountains, long winters, fairytales, the spirits of the caves and forests, that inexpressible sense of separation, solitude and legend”, as local novelist Dino Buzzati wrote.
Villa Alpago-Novello has been recently restored whilst retaining the original spacious and well-lit rooms and it was in the conservatory that “La Serra” was born, a B&B dedicated to hospitality and literature, with a literary salon where guests can take part in private, intimate and very sociable meetings with writers and authors.
Luxurious fabrics, carpets from Lebanon and Africa, chairs picked out from the street markets of Paris, vintage and designer pieces: in this space, every item has a story to tell and offers guests a new chapter in theirs. A relaxing place to stay, where you can recharge your batteries in one of the two rooms with en-suite bathrooms and south-facing views overlooking the beautiful gardens.
After a long and refreshing sleep, you can wander down to the kitchen to start your day with a breakfast prepared by the owner using locally sourced ingredients, as you gradually wake up and look out on the gardens outside.
Last but not least, if you stay at the Serra di Villa Alpago-Novello you can also to attend the events organised by the owner in her literary salon on the premises.
In the Annex, a recently restored former storeroom and hay barn, there is also a cinema and yoga room where you can round off your day relaxing or enjoying a film on the 88-inch screen, sinking into the stylish beanbag chairs.
