The daughter of entrepreneurs and born in Argentina, Countess Mariuccia fell in love when she met Count De Lord on the snows of Cortina, and together with her husband they moved to Asolo, to Villa il Galero.
A person of great charisma, a visionary entrepreneur and a lover of culture and children, in the 1950s she decided to involve local artisans to create a doll that could resemble a real little girl in miniature: this is how she invented the ‘Italian Barbie’, a jointed doll to which she gave the name ‘Cristina’ in honour of her only daughter.
Not only could this toy boast clothes and accessories hand-sewn by local artisans, but also home furnishings such as beds, bedside tables, chairs, etc. were created to make the play environment refined and elegant.
Many collectors have copies of this doll, although little has remained in the villa over the years.
