A true immersion in nature and history: the park, designed in 1860, is an unspoilt environment of approximately 200 hectares including a romantic 65-hectare park, a neoclassical Villa, a 17th-century Gastaldia and the largest artificial caves in Europe. It is a rarity in the panorama of parks in the Veneto region, being included in a unified area without interruptions or intrusions of paved roads or modern constructions. The structure of this Veneto park is due to Alberto Papafava (1832-1929), a Romantic painter with a great sensitivity to nature, who, in redesigning the Frassanelle property, implemented his ideal landscape as if painting on land rather than canvas. The culture of the romantic garden, which was spreading in Padua thanks to Jappelli, sought to represent, even in spaces that were not always very large, a microcosm of all the possible landscape aspects of a natural park. The orographic condition of the territory, well diversified between hills and plains, between sunny shores and shady ravines, allowed for a varied and evocative landscape design, making this private park one of the best-preserved parks in Veneto at the end of the 19th century. The park territory surrounding Frassanelle offers unique nature trails, evocative itineraries that wind along the paths and the most characteristic points: the grotto, the bamboo grove, the ravine and the neoclassical temple. The historic buildings integrated into the park represent an extraordinary intact example of rural life, both manor and peasant, from centuries past. Visitors will be able to enjoy a unique experience of immersion in nature and history far away from hectic everyday life and architectural, light and noise pollution. In addition, in this splendid natural park it will be possible to enjoy unique experiences such as exploring the artificial 19th-century caves and observing rare species of animals and plants in a still unspoilt environment.
